Most of more than a million bees shipped by a Pennsylvania distributor died when they were left on a hot UPS truck for weeks, CBS Boston reports.

The station says it was too late to save them when a beekeeper was finally called in on Wednesday.

And Anita Deeley, a former Massachusetts Department of Agriculture inspector and a beekeeper, told CBS Boston, “Almost all of them could have been saved if they called someone right away.”

UPS driver spots 86-year-old woman bleeding in street, carries her to hospital – KTVU

An 86-year-old woman from Santa rosa says a UPS driver came to her rescue in the middle of his work day.

Magda Vahey fell and broke her wrist while crossing the street near Providence Santa Rosa Hospital last month.

UPS spokeswoman Amanda Catala said Devon Brooks saw the woman lying in the middle of the street bleeding and ran to help.

When Vahey told him that she was in excruciating and pain couldn’t walk, Brooks carried her to the hospital and stayed until she was admitted, Catala said.

UPS is expecting to hire more than 125 more employees in the Indianapolis area as they look to support their e-commerce-related shipping needs.

In a news release, UPS said the jobs are part-time package handling positions in UPS sortation hubs and centers. Corporate spokespeople say these jobs can lead to full-time positions.

“We’re proud to move our world forward by delivering what matters, and the rapid and ongoing growth of e-commerce coupled with overall demand for our services is creating new part-time opportunities,” said Stephanie Maymon, Director of Human Resources. “We’re looking for people to join our team here in the Indianapolis area, and to possibly start a great career at UPS.”

UPS says it plans to hire hundreds of part-time employees in metro Atlanta in the upcoming months.

The mail delivery announced Thursday that it expects to hire over 250 employees in the area due to the rise in shipping connected to increased e-commerce purchases

The company says the jobs would be permanent, part-time package handling positions in UPS sortation hubs and centers. These jobs could lead to a long-term career. According to the company, more than 56 percent of UPS drivers and management were originally hired from the part-time package handler positions.

More than 56 percent of UPS’s current drivers and management staff were originally hired for part-time package handler jobs. Promotion from within enabled many to begin their careers at UPS.

UPS planning to hire 450 new employees in the Dallas-Fort Worth area – MSN

UPS announced Wednesday plans to hire around 450 new employees in the Dallas-Fort Worth area to support increases in demand.

The shipping company plans to hire employees for sorting hubs in Fort Worth, Arlington, DFW International Airport and Mesquite for permanent, part-time package handling positions, according to a news release.

These part-time employees may also have the opportunity to advance into full-time roles, with more than 120,000 part-time employees having transitioned into full-time driving or management positions, according to the release.
