United Parcel Service Inc. is advising customers to send holiday packages by Dec. 15 if they want to use ground service for Christmas arrival. For customers using 3 Day Select Service, the deadline is Dec. 21. For UPS 2nd Day Air Service, there’s one extra day, with a Dec. 22 deadline. And the UPS Next Day Air deadline is Dec. 23. Accenture data shows that 22% of shoppers plan to make most of their purchases on Black Friday or Cyber Monday, though retailers are starting their holiday promotions this month.

White House says Walmart, FedEx, UPS to work 24/7 to ease supply bottlenecks for holiday season – Nasdaq

President Joe Biden will host a meeting on Wednesday to hail progress in addressing supply chain problems weighing on the economy and threatening the holiday season, while he challenges business and union leaders to do more to ease shipping backlogs.

The Port of Los Angeles is going to 24/7 operations as a step toward helping ease the shipping snarl there and at the Port of Long Beach, a senior administration official told reporters ahead of the meeting.

In addition, the three largest carriers of goods – Wal-Mart WMT.N, FedEx FDX.N and UPS UPS.N – plan to move toward round-the-clock operations to help speed the shipment of goods across the country, the official said.

UPS employee among at least 2 killed when small plane crashes in Santee – Fox 5

A small plane crashed in a Santee neighborhood Monday afternoon, killing at least two people including a UPS employee, authorities said.

The plane crashed at the intersection of Jeremy and Greencastle streets around 12:15 p.m., according to Santee Fire Department. The aircraft was a Cessna 340A and its flight plan indicated it was traveling from Yuma, Arizona to Montgomery Gibbs Executive Airport in Kearny Mesa, according to a County of San Diego spokesperson.

Authorities said they did not yet know how many people were aboard the plane, but that they believed the injuries were “non survivable,” Santee Fire Department Battalion Chief Justin Matsushita told reporters.
