Precious video shows UPS driver bringing Austin 3-year-old birthday gift – KXAN

Three-year-old Parker Lehnertz is a big, big fan of delivery drivers.

During the pandemic, Parker’s dad, Spencer, would push Parker around in a toy car and they would look for delivery trucks together. It was a safe COVID-19 activity for the Austin family.

That routine was how the Lehnertz’ bumped into a UPS delivery driver who has now become a staple part of Parker’s life.

During that first encounter, the driver gave Parker a UPS notepad and pen. Parker carried it around for days.

Amazon is now shipping cargo for outside customers in its latest move to compete with FedEx and UPS – CNBC

Amazon is on a spending spree to grow its shipping business and isn’t content with only delivering products purchased on its own site. The company is now moving cargo for outside customers in its latest move to compete directly with FedEx and UPS.

“They want to be a new kind of U.S. Postal Service where everything can get everywhere, but also quickly,” said e-commerce consultant Chris McCabe, who was a seller performance investigator at Amazon from 2006 to 2012.

Amazon said in its first-quarter earnings report that capital expenditures were up a whopping 80% from a year earlier, helping it increase capacity of its in-house logistics network by 50% year over year. According to SJ Consulting Group, Amazon is now shipping 72% of its own packages, up from 46.6% in 2019.

UPSers help rebuild after devastation – UPS

UPS and The UPS Foundation move quickly to help thousands after deadly storm

Amidst devastation and personal loss from Hurricane Ida, UPS employees are coming together to rebuild their communities. But as Baton Rouge, Louisiana resident and UPS driver James Joseph says, they can’t do it alone.

“We need your help,” James said. “I’m working with The UPS Foundation and traveling to some of the most impacted places figuring out what people need. Right now is the perfect time to donate to a specific agency, like the St. Bernard Project, Operation Hope or CARE.”

UPS and The UPS Foundation immediately went to work positioning materials and volunteers to assist with logistics for the American Red Cross prior to Ida making landfall. The UPS Foundation has donated $500,000 to the American Red Cross to help feed and shelter disaster survivors during hurricane season and provided an additional $50,000 to SBP to assist with home repair and recovery.
