Beginning in July 1940, coastal shipping convoys and shipping centres, such as <a href="https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Portsmouth" target="_blank">Portsmouth</a>, were the main targets; one month later, the Luftwaffe shifted its attacks to RAF airfields and infrastructure.
