To add some substance for comparison between what UPS Pters paid before and could be paying now for an office visit to a specialist. Last year I had to have my right shoulder looked at (and operated on). The initial office visit co pay was $10. Same as it would be now under TeamCare. However, during this office visit they also did an x-ray and an injection shot. I did not have any additional costs beyond the $10. UPS Aetna plan paid it all. To be fair I don't have the full Plan Document for U3 on TeamCare, only the Summary. However, according to the summary under office visits it clearly states that any "additional costs may be owed for medical services beyond the office visit (eg x-rays, injections, lab tests, ect)". I will be reaching out to TeamCare for clarification on this later. Looking at the "If you have a test" line below office visit, it appears the x ray would cost 20%. Assuming that the injection would be subject to that same 20%, my office visit last year that cost me $10 would now cost me a total of $55. This is based on the negotiated rate that Aetna paid on the charges from the medical provider, with me paying 20% out of pocket. So yes us PTers have a legitimate complaint. I voted no on this contract. However if PTers don't step up across the board this is the crap that is dealt. Most of us make half the pay rate and get less than half the time of the full timers. Our health benefits helped make up the difference. Now it appears that it won't be the case anymore. I will update my findings once I find out for sure on this scenario.
