Right now I am struggling with this very issue. I feel I made the wrong decision. Not going to go into specifics cause I don't want to identify myself, and I don't want to get myself or my management in trouble. I got hurt 2 days ago and this is my second day of missed work and missed pay. Just too hurt to work. I can feel it's getting better but slowly. Might be able to do something light tomorrow. I knew reporting an injury and WC would be a nightmare, but that's what it's there for. Thankfully it's not a joint injury and unlikely to cause problems later, but I feel that it is unfair that I felt I should not make a WC claim. Next time I won't do this. I'm gonna miss several days pay before I am worth a crap again, and will be in some pain when I return. This has been a learning experience for me. Slow down and work safe and forget about speed or making bonus. This is a marathon, not a sprint. If I don't treat it like that, I won't finish the race. Right now I feel cheated by my employer. Not mad at my immediate supervisors, it's the environment they work in that creates this. Next time (not if I can prevent it), I'll file a WC claim, and I suggest others here do so.
