We used helpers today. I didn't have one but the OMS was busy calling them up and begging them to work this morning.

They are most likely insiders doing the work. We used insiders one year after 01/01 and it was grieved.

So drivers express concerns their hours are too long
Helpers are brought in. Situation is put under control
Oh but that doesn't just work... so grieve
and back to where it started?

Split car, 285 stops from five routes, 64 miles, 400 pieces jammed in a 700. Loader is a little 'special'.

Happy New Year! It's the same as last year - I came into this week knowing it would be the cluster-eff that it's been so far.

Every car in the red - even worse than x-mas...

Well if its like it is here they want to use helpers but also cutting routes out which is what is causing drivers to be overdispatched in the first place... more routes need to be put on.

We are still running Split Cars and some drivers were using Preloaders as Helpers today. When I got back to the building tonight, I noticed that we had some rental trucks back in the lineup. It was another fine day with the Louisville Air coming in late. they didn't bring it out until after 1:00 today.

We are allowed to use helpers into January in our Local. A few on today. We might have to extend the free period a few weeks into January down the road so we can keep the casual drivers on a few more weeks. With a full vacation schedule again we ran every driver today. Time to adjust to the new reality.

Same here Scratch. Didn't get our air until 1:30pm today. Any idea why the air out of Louisville was late? Didn't see any rentals today but then again we have so many empties laying around that we had more than we needed even with all the split routes in. Heck, some loops had 2 extra routes per loop. At least they are adding routes instead of hammering us with beyond 12 hour days just like the last few years after peak. Maybe they are finally getting the big picture? LOL! Of course, as soon as I say that tomorrow we will all have 12 hour plus days and no extra routes.

Sorry buddy but I don't want a helper year around. Not every bodies days are long. If we used helpers all year they would cut even more routes and there would never be drivers becoming full-time.

Here in So Cal, we too are working late, early December stops counts.

Since Christmas is over why haven't folks taking down their lights? I asked my neighbor why his were still up and said that the wife loved Christmas. Let me translate that for you, he meant he's too lazy to grab the ladder and take them down.
