I am first generation American. My father was an Irish Immigrant who as an Irish Catholic had six children and we lived in an apartment because we could not afford a home. He dug ditches for 44 years until he died. No welfare ,no gov handouts. I decided I WANTED A DIFFERENT LIFE --I worked very hard for UPS for thirty six long years ----I did not have children ----I ALSO DO NOT WANT TO PAY FOR OTHER PEOPLES CHILDREN. IN Canada and the U.S. WE ARE FREE TO WORK HARD AND MAKE THE BEST OF OUR LIVES ---PHYSICALLY AND MENTALLY HANDICAPPED PEOPLE SHOULD DEFINITELY BE TAKEN CARE OF ---I gladly will pay taxes for that -----Unfortunately ----while I got up early and worked --ten --eleven hours per day --many many are lazy and "game" the system -----This is what is making many of us angry !!!! Actually just because we can't carry handguns, we just might have more freedom then you :
We have same sex marriages in every province (Federal law, that doesn't forbid it). Abortion has been here legal , decades before there.
We never ever had a draft for miltary (we took several US refugess from the Vietnam and Iraq drafts though).
We took blacks to get freedom, of being slaves in the US.
We also have several parties we can vote for each election, believe me or not, even a marijuana party. Not just Democrats and Republicans (2 party system).
Stemcell resource is legal here, and we're in the forefront.
Drinking age is 18 here. If you're an adult at 18, well, you're an adult. Thats it.
A big seller here are Cuban cigars for American vistors to Canada.
And you call us socialism ?
We care for people.
We don't seperate them , nor treat them differently, nor force them to go to war.
People here have rights.
Something that is probably lacking south.

Personally, let your healthcare stay status quo. I just feel sorry, that if it does, you won't have anything left of it, in years to come.
I'm worried for the people, for your own well being.
And if you think the system works as it is, then keep it.
Just don;t think you'll get medicare comes pension time, or your kids will have it as good as you once had.

How it is in TO, I only heard. It;s a mega city with a very deverse population.
But, when I went to Milwaukkee, that was like the Quatum Leap show !
Still segregration in place: Black bars, black neighborhoods, even drove thru the Ghetto. It was bad.
Just the population of greater Toronto has more then all of Alberta.
It's different here.
And, I bet it's different by city and city, and state, by state, in the US.

Yeah, so just don't travel outside the United States, because most western and industrialized countries don't allow them (Europe, Japan, etc).
So, if you don't die in a home invasion abroad, chances are you might get sick, and all those countries have national healthcare, so they can't cure you either, with thier "awlful" hospitals and doctors.

I am not surprised that most countries outside the U.S. don't allow firearms. Like the democrats most rulers understand that an unarmed populace is easier to control. That still would not deter me from traveling outside our borders. Now living there would be a whole other story. Give me the good old U.S.of A. 2nd amendment anyday over your pansy definition of "freedom".

We have simply delivered them from tyranny. It is up to the Iraqis to define just what freedom means to them.

Over the long run history has shown that when dictators wish ultimate control they first must disarm the populace. Its better for a government to fear its people than people to fear its government.

"It's always Me, ME, Me, forget the others, as long as I'm doing good."

Don't get me wrong, I actually vote conservative here, but they are nothing compared to your Republicans.

I'm starting to believe anything lower, then middleclass, the Republicans just want to sink lower.
But, they don't realize, you take that little bit of money away from them, they have no purchasing power left, they can't buy anything, then the US will never fully recover.

And that they don't feel sorry for the waitress busting her as s off, to serve them dinner, lunch and drinks, yet works with no bennies and minimum wage.
And everyone else from roofers to cabdrivers, that work hard for living, but yet, have no bennies.

I suppose when a Republican has kids, and one of them might just have a slightly learning disability (of all the least), they might turn in the other direction ?
Knowing, all my kid will be able to do, is pump gas, or cut grass for a living. No medication paid for once he turns 18. And struggels thru life.

Honestly, we all need to share, to make this a better society.
