Anyone Ever Use Permatex Silicone Sealant on Boots?

I just ordered some Aqua Seal Stitch sealer to put the final waterproofing touches on my boots. I read somewhere about someone using Permatex RTV clear silicone sealant (usually for automotive type applications) for the same purpose. I wrote to Permatex and was told it's safe to use on leather. Has anyone ever sealed their boot seams/stitching with this?

I use Thomsons waterseal. Spilled some on my boots while sealing the wood decks on my house. It works great & cheap too.

That's 20 year old Shoe Goo on 20 year old Redwings. I haven't come close to wearing out the toe leather since new. None of the stuff mentioned will work miracles though. If the boots aren't made well they'll leak no matter what.
