Being sent home..

Two nights last week I came in to work, clocked in and was sent home. I asked why and other employees said it was bc I was new hire? Can they send me home at any time like this? Heck it's only 3 hours a night. Geez.

Low man on the totem pole is a tough spot to be--yes they can send you home (better yet they should call you at home and save you the time it takes to drive to work)

Yes until you're in the union, you can be sent home if they don't have work for you.

It is for every new person----------but you will learn that the Union is a good thing. (I'm not saying they are perfect)

Calling the 800 number for that wouldn't be in your best interest. Get it handled locally. Sending you home is one thing (he has the right to do that--kind of) but clocking you in and out on his own is a big no no.

Talk to your coworkers....find out who the steward is and how many days you need to work to make book.
