Bernie Sanders 2016

from a noam chomsky interview:

Sanders calls himself a Socialist, but I think what that means is New Deal Democrat basically. A New Deal Democrat in today’s political spectrum is way off to the left. President Eisenhower, who said that anyone who doesn’t accept New Deal measures is out of the political system, would be regarded as a dangerous leftist today. Everything has moved so far to the right. I don’t agree with Sanders on everything, not surprisingly, but I think he’s a respectable New Deal Democrat whose proposals would help the country considerably.

he said he thinks cruz is more dangerous than trump

You agree with Bernie Sanders (but you might not know it) - NY Daily News

Sanders is not a socialist. He is a "democratic socialist." That one word makes for a world of difference. Sanders favors private ownership and markets, but with rules that protect little people from abuses and uncertainties.

Survey after poll after focus group shows that substantial majorities of Republicans support much of the Sanders economic plan. Many of those Republicans currently support Donald Trump, with his vague promises to stick it to the rich, improve the lot of working class Americans and protect Social Security.

So what are those Americans who support Sanders' policies but not Sanders missing? Why don't they understand the huge differences between socialism and democratic socialism?

Gloria Steinem Says Women Want to Vote for Bernie Sanders Because “It’s Where The Boys Are”
Do you really think that the pajama boys for Sanders are interested in girls ?

i heard this in a interview a few months ago with kevin zeese and chris hedges, and again i was reminded of this on nbc:

superdelegates is what will make hilary beat bernie.

but hte way i look at this, america is so screwed up nowadays that its wrestling with its own fascism, so theres no place for another corporatist like hillary to be president for 4 or 8 years and drive the country that much further down. she had her chance, she lost to obama, and that should be it.

even with the technology nowadays, i think americas best days (1950s, 1960s) are behind it and arent gonna come back. but it doesnt have to be..

Twenty-five years of not being a career politician, what has Sanders accomplished? He introduced 353 bills and only three went anywhere. He got three USPS buildings renamed.

Says more about our government than it does about Sanders.
To be fair, it's still a better record than Clinton.
And Cruz has only gotten 1 bill passed.
Government at it's finest.

If you ask me I'd say their inability to get anything passed is a plus, they'd probably find a way to make things worse if they could.

You might want to research his wife .
And the $200K golden parachute she received after being forced out of a college that due to her actions almost went bankrupt .

Banks give loans they shouldn't.... say it ain't so!
Seems a lot of the candidate's wives/husbands have a bit of baggage this election.... If you're into wasting your time with that sort of thing you'll certainly find yourself occupied/distracted.

As "friend'd" up as the gov't is today, that might come across more as a positive for Bernie than a negative. Ron Paul was also known for doing about as much, maybe even less as I don't even think he got the first Post Office named. If such purely PR events/appeals to emotion actually mean a damn thing to begin with.

And not unlike Ron Paul, seems Bernie may be striking a cord with the youth movement as well. Now I find this interesting and if one puts aside the purely partisan narratives, while there are differences, there is common ground between the 2 men as well. I'm more curious what evolves from this 20, 40, 60 years out but then I'm far more interested in the long view of which likely I won't see instead of the short term (the next election) which I know the current generations who now hold power will just continue to "friend" up. We've yet to demonstrate anything different.

Bernie Sanders is the future of the Democratic Party
