Come and listen to a story about a man named Jed
A poor mountaineer, barely kept his family fed,
Then one day he was shootin at some food,
And up through the ground came a bubblin crude.

Oil that is, black gold, Texas tea.

Well the first thing you know ol Jed's a millionaire,
Kinfolk said "Jed move away from there"
Said "Californy is the place you ought to be"
So they loaded up the truck and moved to Beverly.

Hills, that is. Swimmin pools, movie stars.

(ENDING)
Well now its time to say good by to Jed and all his kin.
And they would like to thank you folks fer kindly droppin in.
You're all invited back a gain to this locality
To have a heapin helpin of their hospitality

Hillybilly that is. Set a spell, Take your shoes off.

Y'all come back now, y'hear?.

Here's the story of a lovely lady
Who was bringing up three very lovely girls.
All of them had hair of gold, like their mother,
The youngest one in curls.

Here's the story, of a man named Brady,
Who was busy with three boys of his own,
They were four men, living all together,
Yet they were all alone.

Till the one day when the lady met this fellow
And they knew it was much more than a hunch,
That this group would somehow form a family.
That's the way we all became the Brady Bunch.

The Brady Bunch,
That's the way we all became the Brady Bunch.
The Brady Bunch.

Trivia question for moreluck: Why did Jed want to move to Beverly Hills? Hint: He wanted to live in the same town that a certain actor/personality lived in. Can you name that actor/personality?

Dash Riprock ??

I didn't even know who dash riprock is. I thought he might be a character from the flintstones. The answer to my question is Tom Mix. I was researching (for nefarious purposes, Klein, in case you're wondering) the old cowboy actors and was on the wickipedia page for Tom Mix when this line from Cultural References was spotted :

In The Beverly Hillbillies, Jed Clampett's reason for going to Beverly Hills was to live in the same place as Tom Mix.

Being Wikipedia, I don't know if it is true but whoever wrote the page for Tom Mix seemed to know a lot.

Dash Riprock was a fictional movie star supposedly hitting on Ellie Mae......I guess dad, Jed, was suppose to go after him per Grannie's orders.

I know who Tom Mix was, but never remember anything about him on Hillbillies........I guess I was more interested in learning all the words to the theme song and I can still sing it all today.

Do you remember that Max Baer (Jethro) opened a casino in the Reno area with the hillbillies as the theme?

I've only seen three episodes in passing. The only one I remember is when Jethro got into weightlifting.
