Brown Cafe Cruise Thread

Not sure if it will interesst anyone. But, I get former guest discount from Princess Cruises.
The eastern, western or southern Caribbean 7 day cruise would cost $849 (2010 rate), for the balcony (without group discount).

Princess is a big step up from Carnival. Fancier and bigger rooms, and ship.
They still call me every 2 months, trying to sell me a cruise.

If you guys/gals want, I can look further into it, next time they call me up.
Just let me know, if your willing to cruise more in style for the same (or just above) price as Carnival.

Then, I'll see what kind of onboard credit comes with it, and also about a possible group discount. Again, just let me know.
Klein, not to slam you in any way, but you should know better than this. A former guest discount only applies to an actual former guest, the only way it can be of use by anyone else is if they are in the same cabin with former guest. You can't sell it, loan it or share it any other way. Further, OBCs do not usually come with former guest status, just a discount in new cruises booked. BTW, Carnival owns Princess.
I have read many long time Princess cruisers say the food is better on CCL, so tell us just what makes Princess such a setp up other than in price?

As far as setpping up, why aim so low as a Princess when you can have a Queen? Cunard lines also belongs to Carnival Lines.

We've been on several cruises, a few different lines. All I can say is, Carnival definitely is "The Fun Ship"!

Nevermind then. It was just a suggestion.
But, the rep of Princess does call me every 2 months. I'm quite sure I could work out a deal.
They do have different routes and litunaries then Carnival.
For example the eastern Caribbean includes St Maarten. Now that would be a very interessting Island to visit.
(half french owned, the other half dutch). The dutch side is totally modern with Casinos, shopping, luxery hotels, etc... whereas the french did nothing.... it's just a fishermen town.

Western Caribbean on Carnival starts at $629 for a balcony with a few different itineraries at that price. That would also be a repeat customer price off of their website.

As some of you will recall we had Amy reduce our price on the cruise because of this repeat customer price this could also happen if we were to go with Celebrity or Royal Caribbean as we’ve cruised with them before too.

According to a friend of mine who has taken several Princess cruises the food isn't that great and it is somewhat of an older crowd, he goes on Princess because his wife likes it. As far as bigger and fancier ships I think that’s a matter of opinion, all the major cruise lines, Carnival, Princess, Celebrity, Royal Caribbean and others have giant cruise ships and the decorating and style would be a matter of taste.

Our favorite cruise line for a while has been Celebrity as it is a little less of a party ship and was know for having better food and being a little more understated. However, Celebrity lost their chef and their food (I've heard) isn't what it used to be. Carnival on the other hand has improved their food...

I did think the Valor was a nice ship and it is not their biggest fleet/class of ship, we had over 3400 guests on board and looking at the capacity for that ship at 3100, no wonder it felt crowded! :peaceful:

Our cruise was on Carnival, but they must've changed their stops......we left from San Juan and had stops at St. Thomas, Aruba, Carracas, Granada, ....not necessarily in that order.

All I can say is that I enjoyed the mix of ages on the Valor. If the wife and I wanted to make a fool of ourself trying to dance with the "young Crowd" we could.

I did that itinerary with Carnival, 12-15 years ago. Carnival stopped going to Aruba a few years ago and now are planning on adding it back in next year if not later this year. I loved that cruise, even though we missed Caracas because of *Civil unrest* in the country, they were having a small military insurgence.

All the cruise lines change up the itineraries from time to time.

ME too, except there were a few more of the 10-15 year old group than I wanted to live close to for a week. I still had a blast.
