Carrying a Knife

Ok, that's what I wanted to know, if there was some kind of ban list I wasn't aware of. And I realize the knife to a gun fight thing, that's why I said it would've been useless with those previous two incidents. The cop that responded to me getting held up said it was too bad I didn't have a knife and I could've stabbed the guy. He was serious. I have a wife and two kids though, I'm not trying to be a hero unless I'm actually attacked.
I understand, but since I discuss a lot of things that irk me about the company, sometimes the stuff that happens in my own center, I won't risk giving up info that puts me in the building or center in-which I work. Plus, this guy is a good driver. Had a lot of "personal" stuff happening on the outside that came to his area and found him. Can't really elaborate more on it without the possibility of exposing who it was, and where it happened. The item he used was "banned", not by UPS, but the State we work in. If you get caught using this solid item on someone you go to jail. Use a fist, OK, use this "thing", and right to jail. We should know by February if he's coming back or if the company is standing firm on his discharge.

Mace will get you fired if you use it on someone even if it's for defense. We're not allowed to carry it.

Depending on the state you in you also may need to be Have a license to car mace.

I would say if you feel you have to ask if you can carry a knife--------- you probably shouldn't. We always carried a knife or at the very least a small box-cutter for cutting off COD tags ---------or to open up porno to inspect it for damage.

I have carried a knife, on my person, since I was 4yrs old.
A knife is a tool that has multiple uses.
Using a knife for defense is not for amateurs.
Also, I could care less what the "rules" are.

We aren't allowed to carry knives. But we are allowed to carry a leatherman. Fedex logic at its finest!
Leathermans are exempted because it is a multi-tool.
Many foldable knives with less than 4 inch blade are exempted too.
No fixed blade knife or switchblade knife are exempted as far as I know.

Years ago most of us carried a knife or a box cutter to cut off COD tags. Don't miss that all, although once in awhile the old style tags still get used.

Yup. Used a Leatherman to cut those darn things off. Haven't seen one in a few years though. Really don't miss those old tags.

I have a small Leatherman I keep in the car.
I have an Assisted Opening knife with a 3 1/8 " blade that is serrated and the handle has a seat belt cutter and the end of the handle serves as a car glass breaker.
I never considered it as a defence weapon although once I thought I was going to have to use it on a rabbit that went crazy on me.

I always wondered if I got held up at gunpoint If I would have the balls to ask the guy "you mind if I get my book bag out the back before you take the truck"?
