And jealousy, rears it ugly head.
People on the "outside" always complain.
Once they are in the door....
They enjoy the lush surroundings.
Think about it.
The members of your Local.... elected the people in office.
Who's to blame for that ?
They used to be fighters.
What's changed ?
Reality ?

Politicians are easily corrupted it seems ... still does not make it right.

Interesting theory and term...."lush surroundings".
Thank you for validating my assertions.
Reality is that I live a modest and comfortable lifestyle which I am...content with.
The "lush" travel your kind relish, would be an inconvenience for me and my family most of the year, but nice try.
Think about it.

The members of your Local.... elected the people in office.

Who's to blame for that ?
The two thirds who chose not to take the time to choose???
I'm working on it, one at a time.
They use to be fighters.

What's changed ?

Reality ?
What's changed....I say nothing in most cases.
Those who were fighters, fought for themselves, which is their only real ongoing concern.
In the end, it will be their undoing.

Have your financial affairs in order.

Are you ready to muscle up ??

Or;

Cry about the expenditures.... from people that do it ??

saw this on twitter.

keep cheerleading crapitalism...

https://www.wsws.org/en/articles/2015/10/09/pens-o09.html

"The Teamsters’ Central States Pension Fund, one of the largest retirement funds in the country, has sent letters to over 400,000 beneficiaries announcing that they will lose thousands of dollars in retirement benefits. Many current retirees will see their benefits slashed by 50 percent or more."
That article is bullcrap.

Look, I'm not balking at the "need" to travel.
If I choose to pursue any job, I will answer the bell.
I would enjoy going to new places and meeting new people, but it would be an "inconvenience" to my family.
Certainly you don't enjoy being away from your's???

As far as the expenditures, I don't bulk at prudent travel arrangements, complete accommodations, with a reasonable per diem.
When an employee is asked to leave their home, kitchen and family; they deserve all reasonable creature comforts.
I have been to several JAC's, and honestly haven't seen anything unseemly in regards to these principles, except the venues.

I love my Union, we just need to tighten up a little.

...and you never left the house?
Yea I have but its not really for me. I like staying in my own comfort zone. It's nice to get away but you miss the little things like the bugs and kisses. Seeing faces. A good dog. Whenever I go somewhere I look for a dog and go see it. I communicate well with dogs.

Elected union officials....who's to blame for that? Around here upsers are the minority. Our BA never even worked for UPS.

...and that's problem.

The UPS National Agreement and all it's supplements make for a 200+ page document, and to live it, is to know it.

Most other contracts that I have seen within the Teamster's Union, are "pamphlets" in comparison.

What an enormous disadvantage a non-UPSer's is in as a business agent or panel member?
With no frame of reference, how can they assume to understand?

In the Central Region, UPSer's are at a significant economic disadvantage, in regards to their pension, when they serve as an local official.
So please, use caution when questioning the intentions of a UPSer running for local union office.

Oops....

Now, "the cat is out of the bag".

(Or, your personal reservations)

If the desire is to try and change things, why worry about "yourself" ??

Just my "reservation"???
That cat is finally, and completely "out of the bag"
....for all former and future UPSer's who have strove to hold union office in our region.

Unless of course they are.....????

Who can guess the answer?
Hint: it was perfected in my local.

Even the company didn't see it coming.

I truly hate that guy.

Package Car is cake compared to this...
UPS people that retired before 2008 are supposed to be the last cut. UPS people retiring after 2008 get $0 cut because UPS is to make up the difference. The key to that is to keep that provision in the contract.

Until the next contract.

IMO, the chances of UPS sticking to their promise to cover Central States shortfalls is a pipe dream. It doesn't take a genius to see all UPS did was make a promise to get out of the Multi-Employer Pension and to pass a contract. All they did was kick the can down the road to the next contract. They've spun the bottle on the pension obligation, and when this contract is up, you can bet your retirement check that the bottle will be pointing to every one of us.

Fund your own retirement like there will be no pension...because there won't be.
