Chief praises officer, UPS driver for containing fire - York Daily Record

A fire chief is crediting a Carroll Township Police officer and a UPS driver with saving a barn and large shed from an approaching brush fire Thursday.

United Parcel Service delivery driver Tim Whary was in the area making deliveries and stopped to help McCoy. Whary used the fire extinguisher from his UPS truck to fight the flames and continued to help after the fire extinguisher ran out. Whary and McCoy were able to contain the fire until Franklintown Fire Company arrived to extinguish the fire.
