I had a labor manager tell me a while back when we started filing the 9.5 grievances why UPS went with the 9.5 langauge. He said they looked at all their data and more accidents, injuries, complaints occured after working OT. They broke it down and figured working a driver just under 9.5 would be a benefit in lowering the chances of having these injuries and accidents and the employee would work safely.

Here they argue the 9.5s like they are a discipline case, but they pay them out, over and over. Its to teh point where our OMS just prints out everyone hours for the last week on Monday morning and we just pick them up and file. I have drivers making $80,000 a year with a day off a week because of the triple time.
