Modifying of a car is a BIG no-no here.

It always has been---everywhere. So are a hundred other "rules" that get broken every day-- by both sides--at every UPS center. That being said "after further review" I wouldn't reccomend hooking up to UPS power now days-- too much other electronic /I spy surveillance crap watching you --but it was something just about everyone did (at least in my center) as little as 10 years ago and we never had a "radio fire" in the 41 years I have known UPS. My first full time job at UPS was running a shuttle route over to North Dakota when UPS first started the great western expansion back in 1971. The first thing I did was go to the local Monkey Wards auto store and buy me a little car radio which I later took back because all I could pick up was engine static. If I was there today I'm sure I would have my radio hooked up-- but that is just the way I am.
