Corker puts hold on bill thought to hurt FedEx - The Leaf Chronicle

Sen. Bob Corker has put a legislative hold on a bill to reauthorize the Federal Aviation Administration because he wants a provision stripped out that could make it easier to unionize workers at Memphis-based FedEx Corp.

This episode is the latest in a years-long fight involving unions, FedEx (which is mostly non-union), and its unionized competitor United Parcel Service over what federal laws should govern FedEx employees.

The FAA reauthorization measure was tentatively scheduled to be taken up Tuesday on the Senate floor. Individual senators have the ability to block consideration of certain actions.
