here is my paycheck....
Wage Hours Amount
REGULAR 33.700 40.00 = 1,348.00 FICA 112.16
- OVERTIME 50.550 6.05 = 305.83 FICA MEDICARE 26.23
- PROD BON 50.550 3.07 = 155.19 FEDERAL TAX 360.90
- TOTAL HOURS WORKED 46.05 ST TAX- PA 55.54
- CURRENT TOTALS 1,809.02 SUT EMPL DEDCT 1.27
Town 18.09
-
- TOTALS 575.19
- DEDUCTIONS
- ROTH 54.27
- UNITED WAY'15 2.00
- TOTALS 56.27

NET amount = $ 1,177.56

Why are you posting this again? How is bonus paid at overtime rate? Top rate here is $33.71, you sir, are missing out on an extra penny

One of the many reasons I'm not clamoring for overtime. The fifty bucks an hour really means ten for you and forty for the IRS. Rather be home.

I try to keep my check around 1k. Rest goes to retirement.


If you think that's bad you should see my wife's check. Almost half gone to taxes and retirement.

Your withholding number on the W4 is too low. Why don't you filed as married and claim at least 2 (you and your wife)? You can use a withholding calculator on the IRS website to determine how much more you can claim. If you re getting back $3000 that means you re OVERPAYING the IRS that much and they are essentially getting an interest free loan from you. Raise your withholding number (use the calculator) and you can easily take a bite out of those taxes. I'm claiming 7 on my W4 and still got back $67 dollars and a energy saver window installation credit bumped it up to nearly $400.

Another reason taxes are so high is pure politics. Remember that, and why those taxes are going up, when you vote in elections.

It's a good thing you don't have union dues coming out of your pay otherwise, it would be lower. That's ok though, I'll continue to pay my dues so you can continue to bitch and moan about having to pay taxes on your measly $1100 check.

Be thankful you don't have child support payments, because I have to pay taxes on my gross then get whacked by child support and she gets to claim the credit. That's always fun. Oh well, welcome to the real world.

Imagine if they gave us the 50-150k earners some nice tax breaks instead of the wealthy and corporations the economy would be in great shape. As it is I would rather hoard my money or put more into my retirement than spend it. If I could get an extra 200-300 a week to myself I would be more inclined to put it back into the system by spending it.
