Day after Thanksgiving requirement

    If the last contract states no one works that day - why has the union allowed this to happen? There wasn't any vote after the contract passed to make this a mandatory work day. Just curious. To me, if nothing was voted in prior to ratification of the contract - then the company should abide what was passed in the contract book. I doubt if anyone has received any type of amendment to the contract stating that everyone is now required to work the day after.

    Not many people complain about it because there's so much money to be made that day. I'm bringing a wheelbarrow when it's time to cash that check.

    Here in Central just states it is a holiday, not that no one has to work or cant

    It's a holiday here. Voluntary if you want triple time.

    The contract guarantees us very few days off. What it covers is how we are to be paid if forced to work a holiday.

    Holiday here too...working it is optional....but triple time? Count me in!

    We signed a voluntary form, was told if we didn't sign we would be made to work from the bottom up.

    I don't mind working 1 day and getting paid for 3 days.

    It needs to go up on the next contract....the day after thanksgiving was a joke but all you guys probably had similar results...

    Agreed. This will no longer be a Holiday come next contract. Leave it to UPS to take the one Holiday weekend away from us before the madness begins.
