Disability pay sucks, but it beats the alternative ( not having any.)
A couple of years ago I had surgery to remove bone spurs from my Achilles tendon. It was probably work related, and I could have tried to get it covered thru comp, but I just didnt feel like spending years fighting over it.
I had already scheduled 4 weeks of vacation during the summer, and I had about 3 weeks of sick pay built up, so I decided to just go on disability and get it taken care of immediately in order to give me time to heal up before hunting season and peak.
I got about $275 a week in disability for the weeks that I wasnt on vacation. This basically allowed me to extend my sick pay out to 5 weeks, giving me a total of 9 weeks off to heal.
