Anyone know what the hours are for a center dispatch specialist? I might be offered this job and would like to know. Thanks.

Is a Center Dispatch Specialist the same job as a full-time supervisor that dispatches routes with PAS/EDD? Mine comes in about 3AM and goes home at noon. He also is in charge of EAM dispatch.

I am planning to take over with my elaborate and college educated plan.:devil2:As for the other post- I bet it is the same job as the 3AM sup. In our district they are replacing sups with specialists.

thats a question you can't ask here. hours could be anything during the day or even in the evening.

if you're going to be a center dispatch specialist it would stand to reason that u would be there during preload hours

We have several different names for the so called Dispatch Specialist here. I can't repeat any of them on this thread. Truth be told though I believe the main problem is lack of training more than anything. Typical PAS/Edd implementation. Swoop in, turn everything upside down and then leave. The poor person that is left to be the specialist isn't one at all and would no doubt love to retire if he could. It's a thankless job.

Maybe that's the problem in a lot of centers. We have supevisors, and we need a SPECIALIST. I have personally asked our dispatch sup to upgrade his map and get mapquest, or google earth, or a clue!

Specialist is the guy with all the info at his fingertips and fails to use any of it to provide a consistant dispatch.

That is the perfect definition!!!!Wish I'd thought of that.

The job description of a "dispatch specialist" most assuredly will be:

Perform the same job as the supervisor you are replacing with half the knowledge (by the way, what is half of none) and at half the pay.

I can't wait til we get our specialist!

    Is dispatch specialist an oxymoron?

Yes it is. It's right up there with Vacation Bible School and Holy Wars.
