A strike, whether designed by the company or authorized by the membership is suicide. You have a company now run completely by wall street investors types who's goal is the bottom line share price and dividend payout. The largest teamster employer in the country, they believe they have done enough negotiating 11 billion in pension funding to bailout improperly managed pension funds and massive losses of teamster jobs in the now defunct trucking industry. And how about ups buying and then unionizing another 12000 overnight express employees and running no profit from the company after a 200 million dollar investment ? And then agreeing to and then filling 60 % of another 22000 inside fulltime jobs. Take a good look around. If you believe your getting screwed, vote strike and watch your many jobs go away. Just like the auto workers, aircraft workers, teachers and police, firemen and amt's.etc etc. Dont forget the 125,000 post office workers. Lets not forget the 5500 at the non union fedex. You think the glass is half full ? How much more do you think ups is going to pay ? Its not about big bad ups anymore. Where have you been for the past 7 years. The majority of the revenue stream for ups with its profits is offshore. Ups america ( you know american teamsters ) is barely breaking even. That is not how it was 10 years ago. If you think ups cares about a strike, you might want to think again. They may be counting on it.
