DOT Physical

What can I expect at a DOT physical? People who have had to do it recently would be most helpful. I would be a new hire.

Yup, in fact you probably get a much more in-depth physical from your family doctor.

They'll test your eyesight, color test, pee test (not for drugs), BP, etc

Urine specimen, vision check, blood pressure, range of motion with arms, legs, and back. Sometimes, color recognition.

Around here, you can also expect them to measure your neck. If you appear to have a weight problem, snore and have a 17" or larger neck, they hold your DOT until you have a sleep study test done.

Never tell a UPS doc that you snore. It's none of their damn business, if you're worried about it, tell your own doc.

Do yourself a favor and wait untill after the physical to have your morning coffee. I didn't and my blood pressure was very close to disqualifying me. They were nice enough to retake it at the end of the physical and it was much lower.
