It's a extremely poor channel for giving your hard earned money to needy causes because, as many find out too late, your recipient only gets 50% of the (fraudulently) solicited donations.

The ultimate poor investment=United Way.

I'm quoting your post because you evidently wanted to derail the thread.

I don't give because I became upset when I found out only 50% of my donation went to the place I DONATED TO thru UW ... contrary to what management told us.

I used to give a 1 a week, now I give 5 a week. It has nothing to do with my local or General President. It has to do fighting lobbyists like the Koch bros. I want politicians to stop attacking the middle class. I want my union to endorse labor friendly canidates period
