Just recently talking to a package car driver with the same seniority as me, you would not believe the list of operations and disability time off he had with over 25 years in. Think about it, this kind of work was not meant for most people over 50 years of age, why do you think that our vacations stop at 25 years, would be that the union and company thought that most of us would be retired by then. Truth is as we age we are going to go down hill real quick physically, some sooner than others, consider just how many women ever obtained the required years vesting and age requirement for a normal retirement. For the life of me I personally would only think of about maybe five that fully retired who did not leave early via the disability route or quit due to the break down of their bodies. Consider the term being thrown around now "Industrial Athletes" by the company, just how many professional athletes can compete just past 40 years of age. The whole system is set up against any of us obtaining any retirement benefit or physically less demanding job assignments if you are union. All the "cake jobs" were given to the non-union work segment, the desk, computer positions. Not that I do not mind the work required for my union position, it does keep one in shape till a time when all the safe habits and healthy eating will not help you at all. Bottom line is that we need an early retirement option negotiated with this upcoming contract, at least a "light at the end of the tunnel" hope. Afraid we are in between what the company and the union wants to advance their agenda, and do not tell me that we are the "union", it left our hands long time ago. At time I consider the union and the company the same, a bunch of power hungry egoists who want to control their positions against any challenge hurled against them. After all most power structures are a group of haves trying to prevent the have nots from storming their castles, you can guess were we stand

[QUOTE="Cezanne, post: 149046, member: 5104"] I do not know where you guys are getting your statistics, truth is most 20 plus UPS union employees are pretty well busted up.
