This is such a sad situation. Makes me thank my lucky stars that I was born in this country. It's not perfect, but it sure is better than a lot of alternatives.

Only a few of the refugees are going to Britain. Nice gesture by Cameron but it is just a drop in the bucket. Millions have fled Syria.

When does the US make their gesture and accept some of these refugees?

  5. We do that for Mexico every day.

If the border was a direct one, like Mexico, it would have already happened; however, we are talking about having to cross an entire ocean so I don't see it happening any time soon, if at all.

If I had to venture a guess, I would think the assistance will be in the form of food aid or financial aid.

We have accepted over one-half million Southeast Asian refugees since 1975. The Pacific is a much wider gap than the Atlantic.

How many of those after the exodus from Vietnam ended?

How about all the Somalis after the waves of Vietnamese and then Cambodians?

The number of refugees that the US can accept is set by law. For FY 2015, that number is 70,000.

    Africa................................17,000
    East Asia.............................13,000
    Europe and Central Asia................1,000
    Latin America and Caribbean............4,000
    Near East and South Asia..............33,000
    Unallocated Reserve....................2,000

The category 'Near East and South Asia' would include Iraq, Syria and Afghanistan, among other countries.

Then those would be undocumented immigrants, not refugees.

  14. Kick them out so we can help those who truly need it.

You are conflating refugees and immigrants.

I'd be happy to discuss either topic with a knowledgeable poster.

The phrase 'illegal alien' has no real meaning under the law. The status of being present in the United States without a visa is not an ongoing criminal violation.

How is he confusing the two? He simply said that we can kick out the illegal aliens to help refugees. I'm sure he knows the difference between legal and illegal immigrants. He may not feel the need to write a novel to get his point across like some long winded people on here do.
