FedEx DOT vs NON DOT / Dirver

If you need money coming in, working for FedEx isn't the worst thing you could be doing. Do yourself a favor though and go for an Express job. You'll get better pay (by the hour, with overtime anytime you go over 8 in a day or come in on your day off) and you'll get health, dental, vision, and life insurance as well as a 401k with matching and portable pension.

It's not the best pay/benefit package out there but it's pretty good for a job that requires no experience or education.

Treat it like a two year trial. Put in the time, give it a good two years before you make up your mind about whether you want to stick with it unless you come across a better opportunity during that time. If you don't like it you're no worse than you are now and you can take that life experience and move on. If you think you wouldn't mind making a career of it then stick around and find your niche. Now is a great time to get in, massive waves of retirements are on the horizon so plenty of jobs will be opening up within the next 5 to 10 years and you'll find your name moving up the list pretty quickly.

Mr Simon: Mr. Fedex is right. Instead, why not try to get into the Plumbers and Pipefitters Union, The Bridge and Ironworkers Union or The Operating Engineers? There you will have some idea of what to expect as well as know where you stand in terms of the overall scheme of things. Working for a Ground contractor cannot be looked at as anything more than transitional emplyment. Something to tide you over until a more promising opportunity comes along.

I got a call from fedex to go in for an interview and fill out a job application. The lady told me that I had to pay for the DOT card and the DOT physical. Plus what is the difference between DOT and NON DOT Driver?
If you were hired by the company, then corporate pays for your DOT medical, but you are Ground, meaning you are your own business man or you are subcontracted by the owner of route

Oh, you mean the owner of the route who is owned by FDX, as in their puppet.
