Fedex Hub Employment Remains Stuck In Neutral - MSNBC

The Great Recession and its lingering effects on the national and local economy point to the reasons why FedEx’s latest national cargo hub hasn’t reached employment levels projected when the hub was announced 13 years ago. FedEx has 234 employees at the package sorting operation at Piedmont Triad International Airport, said Sally Davenport, a spokeswoman at the FedEx headquarters in Memphis, Tenn. “We don’t speculate on future hiring figures,” Davenport told The High Point Enterprise Wednesday.

When the hub and expansion of PTIA for the project were announced with fanfare in April 1998, local supporters of the hub indicated that FedEx could have several hundred workers by the first year of operation.
