first year cover driver need some help

    ok im new to this i have made my full first week and it not so bad as of now but i have a bout 10 stops mainly to plants then i make bulk runs after that my question is how to i break down my pay rate, my current shift is local sort and its 11.35 but as of now im on preload from 5 until start time at 9:30 then im off at no later than 6pm. would i qualify for ot if so when would it start. thanks for any help.

    After 8 hours I would guess.

    Assuming you have an unpaid meal break of at least 30 minutes deducted you would have no OT for that day.

    4.5 hrs preload----straight time

    8.5 hrs driving-.5 hrs lunch= 8 hrs-----straight time

    He should be getting OT after 8 so he should have 4 hr or 4.5 hrs of OT depending on how long his unpaid lunch is. Working 12 hrs without any OT in one day doesn't seem right especially being in the union.

    However I haven't read his local supplement so I don't if this is covered under it.

    what type of work shouldn't matter 8 hrs is 8 hrs.

    In my supplement it says all work in excess of 8 hrs per day shall be paid at 1 1/2 the normal rate.
