I am new to UPS as a driver, and was wondering, about the union, is it required that I pay dues and join, or optional?

New York, idk what RTW means. Again, never been with a union or given an option for one, im pretty young.
I know drivers are telling me its 400 hours and im in the union w/ payment of dues, but no one has told me its
"optional"

NY is not a Right to work state....I don't believe it's optional.

To be fair, I have never questioned the level of representation that I have received. What I have said is that the union is not the end all, be all and that unions promote mediocrity.
