Forced?

Some companies do offer their employees a livable wage with some great benefits (Google-Adobe-etc.). I guarantee you UPS would NOT be one of those companies. They would just be another FedEx. In fact if UPS wasn't union and was on an even playing field with FedEx then FedEx would probably lower their pay and benefits even more and UPS would follow right behind.

Not true. If your statement were true, how come the non-union employees at McDonalds don't make $33 an hour? UPS, McD's. A company is a company, right? Please explain why they don't make the money we do.

Of course your front line cashiers and cooks are not making anything above minimum wage, but that's the same case for our part-timers. UPS pays part timers $8.50 because they can get away wth it. Same for McDonalds.

Once you climb the food chain...no pun... Those salaries start nearing towards top rate.

UPS pays their part timers $8.50 an hour because the part timers for the most part don't get involved with union negotiations and seldom even vote. If the part timers ever banded together they could change things big time in one contract.

Ok. Yes, I am special. :alien2:
I am certain that I wouldn't have what i do if it weren't for UPS and the union. Neither side is all good or bad, but taking them together makes for a good+ job. Would UPS be a different company if not for the union, I don't know, and I certainly hope I don't find out.

Yeah and that climb takes you a whole 10+ years...

Not to mention UPS will just hire drivers outside the company instead of you..

And for the insurance...(thanks to the union)... I could care less. I make more than enough to purchase a family plan from the company or directly from the insurance companies myself. Having "free" crappy insurance is no benefit to me.

Teamcare sucks.
Are you full-time? I was just wondering how you come to the conclusion that ALL full-time workers are overpaid.your previous posts also states if there was a strike there would be a line of scabs waiting to take your job at half the wages. By what I'm reading from your posts I'm sure you would be one of them!

Yes. This job requires no education and little to no skill. That's how I came to that conclusion.

I wouldn't need to cross the picket line. I could survive many moons ---even without the strike fund.

That’s Craptacular
At my second job, I know a 24 yr old girl who pays $75 a week for insurance for herself. Chickenlegs, you are delusional if you really think that teamcare is crappy.
Teamcare is not terrible.....but it is a step down from the old PT insurance in some ways. I've never had to pay anything to see a specialist but a $10 co-pay. Few weeks ago, I was charged a small fee for Xrays...it wasn't very much but I enjoyed paying 0 much better.

You are a freaking joke! If you are this unhappy with the union go work somewhere else. I see management in your future.
