I would say PS4 is best for now although xbox one might have more games now. Or get an xbox 360 which is much cheaper and still a very viable game system. Personally I prefer to use a computer for any games.

For those that don't want to buy equipment (xbox, wii, etc) just go to video poker.com and there are lots of different games to play for free.....you do have to register.
It's the same as they have in the Vegas casinos.
Multi-strike poker
Super times poker
Spin poker
etc.

Wife just got assassins creed 4 for Xbox 360. Haven't seen her in a week.

Plenty of games are available for PC/MAC so there's no reason to pick up a console unless you're dead set on playing console games.

Inordinately Right
I've got the Xbox One and I'm loving it, but it costs 500 bucks so unless you're looking for next-gen graphics I wouldn't waste your money.

"Limbo" is one game I highly recommend for everyone, even non-gamers. It's simple, but beautiful and dark at the same time. It's a "trial by death" problem solving type game. Originally it was only for xbox, but now they have it for windows/mac/iphone as well. Careful though it's slightly addicting.
