Getting sick pay bank in retirement

Ok I am 18 months from retirement, I will have 480 hrs accum if I stay healthy. I have had some tellme to to start using it up to avoid being hit by taxes in the year I retire, what have any of you experienced with that?

In our conference, we didn't have any dedicated sick time that accumulated. All we had was an option week ( 7 days) that we could take in one day increments if we chose that option. If I remember right 5 of those days were earmarked for sick days but not limited to that.

I would suggest you talk to your union business manager to make sure what you options are regarding those accumulated hours.
