GFT process

Depending on your state, they can fire you for no reason. Tennessee is a "as fit" state. California is not. They can fire you for any stupid small insignifigant reason they want. A cust. complained I threw a pkg.....which I DID NOT. Fred EX sided with the customer-so he could get a refund. The pkg was a fedex envelope. MGMT wanted me gone. I could easily GFT and win, but as my atty said....."do you REALLY want to work for them"????????

Answer......NOPE

This is a perfect illustration of an employee being eliminated. 52 years old, 16 years of service....a "liability" to the bean counters in MEM. If they want you gone, it's very difficult to avoid. There are, however, a few steps you can take that help:

1. Keep a daily journal. Write down anything that isn't per policy that management does. Include names, dates, and any witnesses who can support your claims.

2. Take videos and make recordings. You're not supposed to, but document whatever you can. It's easy with a smart phone. I have tons of incriminating video and recordings if they ever come after me. My favorite is an employee tossing a 50 lb box over a stacked slide, and hitting and injuring a fellow employee while the SM is standing there doing nothing. This goes on YouTube the day I leave.

3. Talk with your fellow employees, and get information from them. Management having affairs with hourlies, drug use, porn at work, and on and on are all ammo you can use against them when push comes to shove.

4. These are the items you roll-out when they start harassing you and trying to document you out the door. It's amazing what some inside information can do in terms of eliminating the pressure.

Don't be shy. Document, and wage war right back at them.

+ infinity.

I wish I could say that the SM standing around doing nothing comes as a shock to me, but it doesn't.

Hubby was just in this same boat..lost the GFT process..and has started a Human rights case..without going into too much detail,(because of the forthcoming case)..he is a diabetic..he had a hypoglycemic episode, stopped delivering in order to test himself and eat, test again..waiting for blood sugar to return to normal..they say he missed a meet, wasn't safe,etc,etc..that was incident #2 letter..in a year..
After much deciding by HR dept..they pull him off road,HR doesn't know what to do with a diabetic..onto to short term, then long term..then finally back on the job..3 1/2 months back..they find 'discrepancies' with timecards..26+ year employee...GONE...

I've seen the diabetes thing firsthand and I am surprised that he was even on the road, even if he was "controlled". My Dad is diabetic and had to have is endocronologist release him to drive, but that was for Brown, I have heard that uncle Fredly's neighborhood doesn't even offer that as an alternative. Also, it's amazing just how far they will dig for ANYTHING to use against you once you have been deemed a threat.

I'm a diabetic and as long as I'm under doctor's supervision and pass physical I'm cleared to drive. There's an independent medical agency in Colorado that monitors this. Any problem with your physical has to be cleared through them.

Unfortunately, many employees don't find out how much "FedEx Cares" until they get hurt or sick and go from "asset" on the corporate balance sheet to "liability". Anyone who doesn't think you are targeted for elimination when something happens (as in the case of your husband) is not facing the reality of what this company has become in this realm. FedEx is self-insured, and they immediately send the goon squad from the "Third Party Provider" (eg: Sedgwick) into action.

That's when the fun really begins, as you pointed-out with your "timecard discrepancy" comment. They will dredge-up anything that can be used against you. They will lie, they will obfuscate, and they will try and starve you out or attempt to give you a puny settlement in lieu of proper medical treatment.

Please have your husband discuss this with an attorney...immediately. The consultation should be free, and if he has a case, most lawyers work on a contingency basis.

Thanks..he is..and is/was under the care of the best endocrinologist in our city..unfortunately,the quack''specialist'' that Fedex made him see didn't think so..even the Diabetic Assoc. said he was a quack, and he had lost his hospital privileges long ago..he was old..and not up to date with today's treatments that are now available to diabetics..ie,insulin pumps etc..
The incident letter # 2 was for this incident..first letter was for something else not related to any health problems..
And yes...they lied...his manager lied..the senior couriers all lied..
Is Jimmy Hoffa alive and well in Fedex land or something??..I knew immediately, after he came home that fateful day..he was marked man..after he recovered..he continued on with his day, finished all dels on time, even going back to station and getting the p/u's out on time on the plane..then going back out and cleaning up someone else's dels..
Corporate America...such a wonderful thing...NOT!..

FedEx MRO is not independent. They are in Colorado.

My guess is that your husband received an IME, for Independent Medical Exam. These are insurance company doctors, plain and simple, and they are paid to provide an "opinion" favorable to their employer...or else. I know numerous employees with totally legitimate injuries and/or illnesses, all of whom were told "nothing is wrong" by the IME quack. This isn't just wrong...it's dangerous and immoral/unethical. Where is the AMA on this issue, and why aren't these paid shills drummed-out of the medical profession?

It isn't really a case of Corporate America at work...it's FedEx doing what they've always done, which is to throw the employee away once something goes wrong. I can't think of a company as underhanded or devious as FedEx. The 90-day scam is probably the worst part of this, and Fedex is fairly unique in that the normal standard is 180 days for most companies. How does someone recover from a serious illness or injury in 90 days. They usually don't, a clear indicator of the intentions of FedEx...employee elimination.

Get that lawyer.

FedEx MRO is not independent. They are in Colorado.

There are federal regulations that a self insured company has to follow. The MRO might be FedEx employees for all I know but they act independently. It's their responsibility to make sure a medical professional is monitoring my diabetes. That's my own doctor, not the clinic where we get sent for physicals. I had to have my doctor answer a questionnaire from them specifying what treatment and prescriptions I have for my angioplasty, diabetes, and high blood pressure. It's not a matter of trying to find something to kick me out. It's about making sure I don't cause an accident onroad that gets people killed. And I've had the diabetes monitored for about 10 years now. I've been pulled off the road twice until they had proof in hand that I was OKed to drive.

Yep-thats how FedEx gets the "job" done. Sad, but true. And the trend has only just begun. You must be in an "as fit" state????? I know for sure you arent in California.

Thanks sucks. I know for more than a few years, just after peak was over, people were fired because of "Timecard falsification". They tell us not to write on the TCs but we know better not to listen to that. Who's gonna remember why one started 15 minutes before the scheduled start time 3 years from now? At least when its noted, it can be pointed out to all involved.
Best of luck with your husbands health.

It is for this specific reason that I have a copy of every timecard that I have ever punched for this company. I see timecards getting corrected every day by CSA's who don't know their @ss from a hole in the ground. Who is to say it wasnt them who friend'd up the timecard.

Time card girl:..I want to leave soon, how much longer are you staying?
Reply:-looking at clock-another 20 mins..
T.C girl:OK..I'll clock you out at 1728 then..
Reply: OK,thks..then leaves at 1728hrs..as he said he would..
No one saw him leave..even though, the senior courier talked to him about 10 mins before leaving..he denied he talked or saw hubby..Manager was long gone(to his other job of a small storefront close to his home)..this was on July 5..a day that was supposedly a lite freight day, when it was alledgedly suggested that no one was to work more than 7 hours..(here in Canada)

That's dirty. Do they have security cameras in the station? Here in the states, we don't have employees to clock us out. Are they saying he left earlier that 1728? Someone had to have seen him there willing to back him up. I'd be dragging that manager into to see if he willing to lie in a court of law.
