Congrats on your milestone! Have a long & prosperous retirement!

Got my 25 years in this month! Have no plans on retiring in the immediate future but can see the light at the end of the tunnel. Am at the point now where I can just walk away if management rubs me the wrong way. Have been in front of the mirror practicing "Welcome to Walmart"

There is Life after Brown and thankfully you a left in fairly good shape to enjoy it..Jan 1st was my 3rd anniversary retired...Life is good as long as you live long enough to enjoy the benefits you earned busting your tail at UPS...I left at 55 so if I live to 80 then I would of worked 25 and got a ride for 25 into the sunset:happy-very:

The sad irony of this statement is that the system can't continue to support a 25 year worker earning 25 years of retirement. So enjoy!

Welcome to the other side. The few, the proud, the broken bodies set free once and for all. No time clock to punch, no pimple faced preload sup telling you what your job is, no more customers telling you the "whadya git when you and fedex merge" jokes.

While retirement brings challenges of its own, I cant say I really miss the bull.

I will enjoy and as I said in previous threads when I started I always said at contract time that I would rather get a dime raise and pump the rest into the pension but others as you know wanted it in there pocket right away and sadly look how things went. I always thought I made a decent wage even back in 81 compared to any other unskilled Jobs.

So hopefully in due time they can put the pension in the green instead of their pockets, or someday they may be in a worse spot than me.:peaceful:

I just take the raises and put them in my own Pension Fund. I have some control if that will be there or not.

Never being a saver I am happy with my pension, it was a type of savings for me, With a couple of divorces and child support and starting at UPS at 30 it was a little hard getting going in the savings dept. Glad I signed up for the 401k when it started, that helped me hang it up at 55 :happy2:

This is not meant to offend but you are a perfect example of why companies have defined benefit pension plans. While some would rather have the pension money to invest on their own, I think the majority of employees are content letting others invest their money for them knowing that when they retire they will receive a monthly check.

That's the American way.

A statement from a core socialist! :wink2:
