Here's A Story

Here's a story. My center is in a pretty conservative town. Yesterday I got to work a few minutes before start time, as I usually do because I like to talk to the guy that works the customer counter for a few minutes. Well a lady comes in with an open box and says that the person named on the package doesn't live at the address on the box, but that the address is hers. The box was from Amazon.com.

Well the customer counter guy asks her why she opened it, and she said that sometimes her daughter's boyfriend would have packages shipped to her house under fake names for fun, so she opened it thinking that was probably the case. Clearly, this lady was lying, people don't have things shipped under different names for fun, in my experience. So the customer counter guy takes a look at what's in the box, and I'm standing there watching, and it is a male on male porno DVD. I immediately felt the urge to burst out laughing, but held it in because I didn't want to offend the customer.

Well the customer counter guy explains that they can't return an open box, and that she'd have to pay to send it back. She then get's really defensive that she wasn't supposed to get the package. About that time I really needed to laugh so I walked into the warehouse out of site.

I felt bad for the lady because someone in her family had probably ordered that DVD, and my guess was that they didn't want their mom (or wife) to know about it, but she had taken the liberty of opening the box to her disappointment. My guess was someone in that family was going to have a serious talking to that day.

The package was being shipped 1P, so maybe whoever ordered it figured that the package would probably arrive in the evening so he or she could get the package after they got off work or school, and before this lady had a chance to see it. The driver probably delivered it during the day and this lady was probably the only one home.

Alternatively, maybe someone knew how uptight this lady was and sent it to her as a joke.

Well anyway, that's the story.
Last fall we had an adult toy for women that was misdelivered. The pkg was originally addressed to a couple of ladies in one town, but somehow got flipped in pas to the adjacent town. It so happens the package was delivered to another female couple. A few weeks went by, the original consignee opened a tracer to locate the package. The oms located the pkg, the driver went and retrieved the pkg. The following day the oms had to call the original consignee and tell them the package was not in its original packing material, the pkg had been opened. Instead of sending it back, the consignees actually accepted the opened adult toy!!! It was an interesting call that oms had to make :)
