When you retire, you relinquish membership in the Union and any rights associated with it.

To say you should still have a voice.... well you do.

Most (if not all) Locals, have retiree "clubs" and are certainly welcome at monthly meetings.

What Local wouldn't listen to retiree concerns ?

But, to say retirees should still have a right to vote in Elections....

Would be akin to losing money gambling at the casino, then asking for a "do over".

That's not a great analogy, but you can see my point.

Absolutely.

Great way to get involved.

Retirement, is a choice.

Just like the old motto of the Boy Scouts....

"Always be prepared"

I think it's more like the Brown Scouts motto: "Expect the unexpected".
You can only drive a package car for so long before the body gives out.
I have only seen 1 package car driver make it to 62 before they retired. Most go out in their late 50's because their bodies are so beat up, they can't continue driving.
So sometimes it's not a choice.
Just start driving when you're 40. Problem solved. Maybe. ;)

Has any other industry maintained healthcare benefits over the last 5 years??? With no increase to the participants??

Pretty much all I hear in the news is that healthcare costs are going up astronomically. 1 of the ACA pools in Mn might be insolvent already. I am thinking that it is very unrealistic to think that we can maintain healthcare that costs us nothing.

I also think that a candidate that suggest otherwise is either stupid or lying.
4 billion. UPS will profit 4 billion. Let's use a way over inflated estimate and say they need to add 10k for each of their 77k US employees. that's 770 million. They would still profit 3.3 billion. This was a :censored2:ty backhanded money grab they did not need to agree to. By all means, all companies should attempt to profit to the best of their capabilities, but to take away from the employees that push their profits when there's no trouble? Seems a little greedy.

true and it's not just that we push the profit for the company, but it's no secret that our bodies take a beating for it and ups knows this..we need the health care and we will use it probably more on job related issues than other industries...

You want a toe? I can get you a toe.
A neighbor across the street is a RN. She makes more than me hands down. On top of that, she works ONLY 3 shifts of 12 hours. I average 48 hours per week.
I am not saying that I should make more than her. I am just stating a fact.
There's no way you're making full scale are you?
