(Politico) —Homeland Security Secretary Janet Napolitano announced Wednesday that the Obama administration’s plan to drop some pending deportation cases will get under way in the next few weeks at selected sites across the country.
“The pilot will start in a few weeks, two to three weeks,” Napolitano said during a Senate Judiciary Committee hearing. “It will be very short and it’s designed to find logistical issues that happen where you’re trying to do a massive review of a lot of cases at the same time.”
Napolitano said the review, announced in August, is intended to “administratively close some of the low-priority cases.” She did not identify the districts where the review would begin, but she said it would be expanded nationwide as soon as the initial effort can be assessed.
Napolitano defended the effort to refocus immigration enforcement on priority cases, such as convicted criminals and recent border-crossers, as logical and similar to directives prior administrations issued to set priorities for deportation. On Tuesday, DHS released statistics showing some progress towards implementing the new priorities, but that a lot of deportees have minor criminal records that are supposed to make them a lower priority for deportation under the announced policy.
“Any prosecution office has finite resources and you have to set priorities,” Napolitano said. “The Congress gives us the resources to remove 400,000 [illegal immigrants each year.] The question is who are we going to prioritize.”

(CNSNews.com) – Homeland Security Secretary Janet Napolitano told the House Judiciary Committee in written testimony submitted Wednesday that illegal aliens taken into custody by local law enforcement and turned over to Immigration and Customs Enforcement will be given a phone number to call if they believe their civil rights have been violated.
The phone number will be provided on a form that will include directions on how to file a complaint in six different languages.
Napolitano told the committee that ICE has “updated its detainer form to clarify the longstanding rule that state and local authorities are not to detain an individual for more than 48 hours except for holidays and weekends.
“The new detainer form also requires state and local law enforcement to provide the arrestees with a copy of the form, which includes a number to call if they believe their civil rights have been violated by ICE,” said

No they don't. If one tries to claim their rights in another country, they are reminded that they are not in the USA. I'm not saying that illegal ...uhhh... guests in our country deserve any rights but that just isn't what our constitution and the judges that interpret it provides.
It's no wonder why so many want to come here.

Ever heard of the UN Human Rights Act ?
Yes, the USA signed it, too, along with 200 and more other countries.
So, for instance, you can't lock up people from another country, (or even your own), in a 5' x 5' cage.
So, yes, if they do feel treated as if their Human Rights have been violated, they can issue a complaint.
That's how it works in all civilized countries, not just the USA !
Gee, Canada was the creator of the International Human Rights Act !

I agree but until democrats who voted and support Obama stand up and demand Obama do so, he won't. And even then I'm not convinced he would but at the least you'd have your "moment of truth" to understand what you need to do in going forward.
Democrat voters make the exact same mistake as republican voters in that they will blindly accept bad and dishonest gov't from their own as long as it's the name of the brand in which they identify. The illusion of this cult of personality and fear of the other side (no pun) is corrupt to it core and the very empire you seek to free yourself from know how to play both sides and they do very well as the results shows. Regardless of your actions on election day, you will lose and they will always win. Seek real truth and not the illusion of it!
