I think it is worth the trip.

There needs to be dramatic change and dramatic reduction in government spending.

The list of GOP Senators and Congressmen who are abandoning the Grover Norquist pledge seem to be growing. If the trend continues, the numbers may be there for tax increases to pass. And I'm not convinced this wouldn't have happened had the election outcome gone the other way either.

As Bill Clinton put it, "It's math." I'm fairly certain that my taxes will go up but if we as a nation have decided that we need to find a sustainable approach to our economy and this is the math that will put us on that road, I'm ok with it.

The congress always wants to cut programs that people have paid all of their working lives into.....like S.S. and medicare.

Take away from the freebies instead. Food Stamps recipients don't need to buy lobster and be at restaurants. Food Stamps only need to buy "basic" food. If someone gets $600 in food stamps.....make it $400. That would be a sizeable cut in spending!! Stop some of the other freebie stuff.........check into the fraud too......why does one person need 30 phones? Stop the insanity spending.

If I paid into something all my working life, and I was robbed by the gov't borrowing (with no intention of payback), then I have a right to be mad.

To the broader point, entitlements (that democrats are protecting by the way) and the military are where the money is. The entitlements you are talking about come nowhere near where we need to get to in spending cuts. You come across as someone who insists on cutting the deficit but only at others' expense. Is that why you recoil at Obama's "balanced approach"? Because it's going to affect everyone? We all spent on the national credit card, we're all going to have to pay the bill.
