I agree with you. My time belongs to me. Sometimes my map is confusing, but if it gets me to within a few blocks I can then zero in with the GPS if needed.

Maps are great, you can laminate pages (if you're in the same area every Saturday) and use a dry erase marker to plot stops and then wipe them off when you're done.

Also everyone talking about the use of Gps being bad, I don't use the map on my phone in the sense that I type an adress and then have it guide me there, I like opening up the map app and seeing the dot of where I am and I then zoom in and out and such to see the best way to my next stop. I'm usually out in the boonies where there's no hope of cell service and my power loses service for hours at a time (talk about peaceful)
