I have a couple friend who practice law (both corporate) and they explained how this whole system works To be dead honest, most lawyers goals are simply to strike a plea deal. Most of them are personally cool with the prosecutors. A plea gets the prosecutors numbers up, make the attorney look decent, and saves the state and attorney time and money. I was into some “nefarious” things many years ago and got to know 2 local criminal attorney who are absolutely amazing. Lots of people I know got cleared of charges thanks to them. The prosecutor would see their name on the case and drop the charges, or the case would end in court and end up not guilty after the attorney asked the officers involved a few simple questions. The same way we are expected to follow laws is how law enforcement should follow their procedure and protocols. They can’t do what ever they want and make bs cases where simple constitutional rights were violated.
