If Apple Were A Worker Cooperative, Each Employee Would Earn At Least $403K. what about UPS?

Worker Cooperatives/Worker Owned Companies are an interesting study. Spain's Mondragon Corporation is likely one of the world's largest. Mondragon's website.

Here is a list from the National Center for Employee Ownership listing the Top 100 Companies in the US that are employee owned. Some are worker cooperatives while many are Employee Stock Ownership Plans. Had UPS chosen not to go public in 1998', it's possible UPS might also be on this list.

its quite possible apple would be smaller than it is. its important to note that the 7th biggest business in spain is the Mondragon Cooperative with semi worker control.
If Apple were a worker cooperative, my iPhone would cost $403,000...

wrong wages are not necessarily tied to the cost of goods. so when corporations betrayed america, and started outsourcing american jobs to 3rd world dictatorships where the wages are $0.25 / hr, the corporations did not do it to pass the savings onto americans: they did it to make more profits.

and if u notice nowadays things are getting more and more expensive but your wages dont rise with the cost of goods.

Manufactured goods are cheaper today than 30 years ago adjusted for inflation.

yea i think your right, but america did not benefit from globalization because of the quality jobs it lost. the good news is the deindustrialisation of america has brought pain and has forced communities to develop alternative economic models to capitalism, like worker cooperatives.

The quality jobs were mainly in manufacturing to 3rd world countries but also in financial to countries like Germany, Austria, Switzerland, etc.
I have mixed feelings about globalization myself when it results in blue-collar low/no skill good-paying jobs to 3rd world countries.
I have no problem with the relocation of high-paying jobs to other countries that have living standards comparable to the USA.

Or his grammar. Hard to take anyone serious when they cannot even master the basics of punctuation, capitalization, or taking two seconds to hit the spellcheck button.
This lack of concern with grammar and spelling and clear communication is a continuing concern of the American educational system and American businesses.
People tend to forgive less than precise spoken communications but object to poor written communications.
Preparing one's self to working in a higher paying job or flipping burgers is a choice that young people are making, whether they realize it or not.
I try to ignore poor communications and concentrate on the ideas expressed but it is hard.

UpState does an excellent job with grammar, spelling and precise communications ... we should all look to him as a strong example.
