Two part timers are both in training to cover drive... does seniority still apply? Can the member with more building seniority be passed over while the lesser seniority member is being trained. Or does he have a right to work even thou they are both under 30 days driving?

If they both started training on the same day and there is a day when only one of them can work the one with more building seniority should work.

The more senior member started to train last week. He is being told that he will not drive this week because the less senior member has to train.

Are they letting him get his 8 hours by double shifting on the inside?

No... He will drive for three days with a supervisor on a training route. No building reports on those days. The senior member did the same last week. If nothing changes you will have a senior member who making inside rate for 3.5 hours and a less senior member getting a guaranteed 8 @ the 27.50 cover driver rate.

The driver not on road should be given the chance to get his hours by working on the inside.

This is what I thought... I have to dig deeper... being cover drivers these two people when not driving will report to the building and only get 3.5 hours at their inside rates.
