Inheritance left to driver?

Had a customer lamenting his, in his words, "two worthless kids". Apparently, they are two of your classic, grown men, slacker-underachievers always in need of Daddy's money. He was joking around, saying, "I should leave everything to you in my will"! I joked back that, he should do exactly that, ASAP!

Later on, this got me thinking? Anybody ever hear of a customer putting their driver in the will?

No, but I have a few people who have inherited money, who want me to handle the division of money, between their worthless kids. And I don't know how I feel about that. Sounds like work.

I am the Executor on 3 different people's wills ... I am wondering how much work this is as well.
Maybe I'll die first.

You can refuse. It's a lot of work. You can also take up to 10% for yourself as payment for your time.
It is not so bad if the executor is in the loop in advance.
I know of a Co-Workers Father who passed away.
He had to go out of state and was gone more than a month unscrambling everything.
Another person I know has been in the loop for awhile, so when the time comes all will go smoothly, and no having to search for anything.
Estate planning in advance makes everything so much simpler.

Forget that, if they treat their family like crap, how do you think they'll treat you when you're holding their "lottery ticket".

Exactly. She gets battered daily about what everyone needs/wants. If its up to me, I would probably give it all to her favorite animal charity. She won a very large medical lawsuit, and she was left a widow. And its not like she was hurting before, and they took advantage of her then. Now it never ends. I have no time, or stomache for it.

my grown children are already fighting on who will get our house and assets.

my parents have the right idea. they have made out their will where everything gets liquidized and split evenly to all my brothers and sisters. sounds fair to me.

She wants it like, do this if necessary, make sure this one gets the bills paid. Give them this if they need this. I dont think I want involved, I have no problem saying no. We are suppose to go to a review next weekend. At this point in my life the only people I want to babysit are my grandchildren. Not a bunch of peeps I dont know or care a whole lot about.
