You keep slamming bbsam for the Ground business model but seem to forget that he was not involved in it's implementation; for all we know, he may be morally opposed to the model on principle alone. However, he is also a smart businessman, and if he is able to get qualified help willing to work for what he is willing to pay then why shouldn't he take advantage of this business opportunity.

You, much like the UPS drivers in the "Do we deserve $32/hr?" thread, seem to have a sense of entitlement but, as was aptly pointed, employees work for what their employer is willing to pay or they look for work elsewhere. If employees of bbsam.inc aren't happy with their compensation they are free to look elsewhere.

The Ground business model makes a lot of sense from a purely business perspective.

Upstate the FDX ground model is just a business scam that will fail in a court challenge sooner than later. THE GROUND CONTRACTOR MODEL IS JUST A TAX SHELL FOR FDX.

You seem BLIND TO THE FACT THAT FDX HAS TO PAY A CONTRACTOR WHO HAS TO PAY A BOX MONKEY. THE TOTAL COSTS FOR FDX IS MUCH HIGHER THAN YOU THINK.:wink2:

There is going to be a big power struggle(mess) with FDX and all the FDX GROUND OWNER SHELL corporations that are going to get too big.

DO YOU REALLY THINK UPS WOULD SWITCH OVER TO THE FDX GROUND MODEL AND LOSE TOTAL CONTROL OF THE COMPANY?

FDX IS GOING TO HAVE TO NEGOTIATE WITH THE GROUND SCAM SHELL CORPORATIONS AS THEY GAIN MORE POWER. THATS NOT A GOOD BUSINESS MODEL.:wink2:

Yes, they could handle all of that. It would be rough going, with ISPs scrambling to hire more drivers and purchase more vehicles... It might even get a few contracts renegotiated. The capital city of my state used to only have 1 Ground driver delivering the entire city; today, it takes several. More freight = more drivers and trucks.

My route was maybe 130 Delivery stops daily.. Over 300 packages. This was in 2008. I got a Buy Buy Baby, and Golfsmith which was easily 200 More packages a day. That alone prompted a straight truck. 50 carseats just overfill a full p1200 you know. Talbots, David's Bridal filled my floor.

It has since split in half with my supp but both trucks are back at 100 stops, plus the straight truck. It never ends.

My company buys fuel from Shell . Does that make us a shell corporation?

pure idiocy. They do negotiate, and are not nearly the push overs you think.

What they in Memphis fail to see is that we the couriers are its Biggest Advertisement. The company started out with this philosophy, taking care of us, with good pay, nice benifits and nice looking uniforms and the promise that if we did a good job and help grow this company, we would be taken care of. As a 28 year employee with Express, I have seen the change with the company investing in everything but us the frontline employee. We are treated like theives and the trash of the company. Slackers that are waisting company money.

So back to the 'A satisfied customer made this check Possible" Yes, Mr Smith and Memphis, many Great hard working Couriers made these customers happy.

I'm afraid you have been sold a bill of goods. You are an hourly employee, no more, no less. What you fail to realize is that you have no ability to make FedEx customers "happy", your boss made them happy by hiring you and and allowing or ordering you to do so. If you didn't, you'd be replaced by someone who could. I'm sure you saw this happen in your long career, I know I have, and I'm in a union.

FedEx paid you well early on to keep the union out during their formative stages. The threat of unionization is getting less and less and that is why FedEx hourly employees make less and less. Certainly not because management has lost sight of some perceived nobility of the FedEx Driver. You are what you are because your boss made you that way and she/he wants you that way and now they got you right by the short hairs. I hope you got all those promises in writing about taking care of you, but then, that would have to take the form of something like a union contract.

I read this over and it sounds like I'm demeaning you, and that is not my intent. There are certainly many hourly employees who do more chest thumping and bragging than they should. If you work by the hour, or a set rate, and you do more than the next guy you're not acomplishing anything except enriching the boss. Take heart in the fact that you are not the first or will you be the last to be duped by a major corporation.

C span is funnier but Ground tat jokes never go out of style? C'mon. Your sense of humor is better than that.

I'm fairly impressed with the wit that has shown up on the Ground side lately. At least they aren't a bunch of whiny overpaid crybabies without the nads to stand up for themselves.

If I had :censored2:bag Express or UPS people in my work area, I would certainly park different. Luckily I don't have that issue. The newer UPS guy knows it, he bows to me. As well he better.

Your 46? Good for you also. I'm 50. I try to be considerate to whoever is in my area. I know what we all go through. I have a different boss every time I walk into someones business. You will move much easier with that chip off your shoulder.
