That's a rather large assumption.
Because ( 1) where the missile lands might render a response impossible and (2 ) you are again assuming that the ones on the receiving end have the capability to respond in kind.
( 3 )Most importantly is that using a nuke does not always means putting it on a missile.

Again why would a country attack another knowing that it will be totally destroyed?? Israel's nukes are always on alert. Plus there are ways to detect where it came from:

In Brief: Nuclear explosion debris may reveal bomb's origin

You have to remember, not all countries have rational, thinking leaders........take N. Korea for instance. He'd probably shoot a nuke because daddy never let him touch that button. Oopsie!

CBC News arrived in Damascus today (first foreign journalist allowed into Iran) - watching CBC as I type this !

The CBC's Susan Ormiston, who arrived in Damascus earlier Tuesday, reported on CBC's News Network that she found people there intensely interested in Assad's speech.
"Everywhere we stopped on our way into Damascus, people were huddled around their TV sets, watching the long address from the president. He has not been all that public in the last few weeks … talking very rarely."
After months of closing Syria to outsiders, the regime has decided to allow a few teams of outside journalists into the country, and two CBC correspondents are among them.
However, the regime keeps a close eye on foreign reporters, assigning minders to all foreign journalists.
CBC's Margaret Evans reported from Damascus Tuesday.
She also noted that a pro-government protest was underway when the CBC News team arrived at its lodgings.
"We turned up at our hotel and there was, rather conveniently, a small demonstration of people in front of the hotel — pro-Assad supporters basically echoing what he was talking about in his speech," she said.

I was thinking the same ! Could you imagine if Israel would have gotten East Germany instead ?
They would be fighting over Berlin instead of Jerusalem, and things would be much worse in Europe than they ever were under the Russian regime !

Was the Russian Regime worse or would this hypothetical Israeli control over East Germany have been worse than the atrocities committed by Germany before it was split in two?????????????????????????????????? (It's a rhetorical question)

All materials used in most bombs can be traced back to the country of origin ( especially in the USA ), however that takes time and cool heads.
Should someone get nuked, cool heads are not in charge.

If we got nuked, the entire slate of people in charge are lawyers.....we'll just sue the heck out of the shooters.

Amazing how you right wingers are so paranoid about nukes. What interest would iran have to nuke isreal or us?? Rational people are in charge in these countries. Pols and leaders say crap all the time. Even Kruschev threatened to destroy us but rational people basically control these governments. Again you are missing the bigger point of just having nuclear weapons and the privileges of being in that group possessing them. Plus the whole factor of regional politics between the arab world and israel/usa ;between different factions of islam;between arabs and persians, etc.. So this has nothing to do with bombs exploding . It has everything to do with perceptions of power!!

So why do you suppose an Iranian nuclear scientist got blown up in his car today?? We either did it or paid someone to do it. Somebody is worried. The Iran guy is not rational.........he is insanity personified!!

Mosad/cia op. Why?? So that iran cannot join exclusive club and be a real factor in the region. President of iran is not really in control of much in iran. He is sort of like geroge bush was in this country. Spews lots of threats and conservative rhetoric to rally the base but there are bigger powers that control him.

I can't care less, the next republican prez can go visit all those tiny little Islands around the world, offer them billions to get a signature for a pact to attack Iran.

I'm sure those Island Nations really could use some US dollars, again soon.

klein, nobody really wants to attack Iran.
Because then they would be financially responsible to rebuild it .
Given that a majority of Iran's youth is hook on heroin and unemployment runs over 20%, it is best to just contain Iran's global ideas to within its own borders.
