Why does every x-box break?
Microsoft loses money on every Xbox they sell, the $60 games are what makes the money, so they used some cheap solder to solder the chips into the motherboard. The solder melts under heat and when the motherboard warps from heat the contacts on the chip loose contact with the motherboard, and you get a hardware failure, also known as the Red Ring of Death. Unfortunately the fix isn't permanent, the Xbox needs more cooling to prevent the two parts of the problem in the first place, so even when they are fixed they can still have a relapse.

My Xbox’s DVD drive broke, it was still under warranty so it didn't cost me anything.
