IVIS "native exception"

Is there a quicker way to reboot the IVIS than the button on top? I hate waiting the 10 minutes, heard there was a better way.

We were told to press 1 and 9 and the button on the top. It still takes a couple of minutes to reboot. I had to do it with my tractor the other day because it would let me hit leave. Had another tractor I had to do it to the first 2 times I hit TA. If you notice the little wheel that spins it rotates at the speed of approx $.32 per click.

When they ask, "Reason for the delay?"

Reply, "Well, I had to wait 5-10 minute for the IVIS to reboot."

At least it's better than the old IVIS, when that screwed up you had to dig up a paper time card and try to reconstruct your day.

OK, I tried that 1&9 thing, and that does reboot it a little faster than just holding the top button down.
Thanks!

Never know why or where that thing will fail. Had to reboot 3 times yesterday in order to log off and punch out. How about the bay assignment feature. Not active at any of the hubs I go to, how about you guys?

I'm told if you stare at the spinning beach ball too long the company can transmit subliminal messages that can adversely affect your psyche.

Package Car is cake compared to this...
C'mon, you've only been in Feeders two years and you've lost your "sense of urgency" already?!?!??!:funny:

Well, before that, I was in package car for 22 years. The whole sense of urgency BS is a management wrist twister to those employees to whom they don't like. And by don't like, I mean, employees who file grievances, or inform UPS that they will work safe. Sense of Urgency means a whole lot more than what they tell you it means. Obviously, you haven't figured that out yet.

Inbound bay assignments and outbound dispatch work somewhat in BBRNJ. It inbounds you and tells you to put your load on spot XXX, or course no spots are marked. If you take a load out off a door, you just put the trailer info in and it validates the info and you just hit leave. When you arrive at your destination the info is on their computer, but you have to pick up the phone.

If you take an empty or bypass load you have to call it out. Supposedly after the 1st of the year it's gonna be phased in, some of the clerks/specialists are nervous about their jobs.
Don't know how it's gonna work in larger hubs like the meadowlands where they tell you a load is on the "top deck" there are numbers that correspond with the "topdeck", the "back fence" or "square D", but unless your know where a number is people are gonna be lost. It should be verry interesting!

Relax pal, it was a joke. See the smiley face?
Man, you're wound tight.

For the IVIS I've found that if you, allegedly, punch it hard it breaks something in the circuit board. This won't make it reboot faster but will cause them to install a new one that works better.

The automatic bay assignment feature was supposed to be instituted before peak this year. Fortunately they came to their senses. Either way anyone with experience knows it will fail. The computer can assign any bay it wants but it can't make the driver put it there. Especially when there's one already there.

I wonder how many jobs will be lost when fully implemented. You have to figure the person on the phone is an intermediary, he or she is just relaying to the driver where to put the trailer. All those people will be unnecessary.

Remember tho, that this is UPS technology, how perfect is it actually gonna be?
